Henry Baker Hall:
Open For Business!

Henry Baker Hall (Regina City Hall) has undergone its' first major renovations since the original 1976 construction. We have been following the progress of the project and are proud to present the final chapter of this successful installation.

The project planning and preparation began in early 2006, with Inland AV working with PSW Architects and Interior Design to develop the audiovisual system specifications and equipment list. The most significant change in the room design is that the council now face the public gallery, instead of the councilors sitting with their backs to the public. The final design included the creation of the CAD diagram, pictured on the right hand side of this page as well as the audio, video and control diagrams.

January, 2008 saw the demolition of the existing room. Once demolition was complete the various trades moved in and renovations commenced. Inland AV worked in co-ordination with the various trades to efficiently complete the audiovisual system installation. It is of interest to note that there is now a false cable floor in place. As technology evolves and new equipment and cabling is required, a quick upgrade can be added to the system without the implications of major renovation cost and inconvenience.

The council chamber installation includes a wireless conference microphone system. The microphones can be easily moved allowing more flexibility in the meeting room configuration. In fact, the wireless conference microphone system concept was so beneficial that the City of Regina purchased a second system for use in various smaller meeting rooms.

Once the infrastructure was in place, we waited until the major construction was complete before installing the AV equipment. The projectors and screens were flown; cameras, monitors, microphones and control systems were installed and cabled together. The final control system programming and graphics were developed and installed as the finishing touches to the project. See the picture of the Clerk's touch screen audiovisual system controller, on the right hand side of the page.

Henry Baker Hall System Overview:

  • Two 6,000 ANSI Lumen data & video projectors
  • Wireless conference microphone system for 28 people
  • Three camera system for broadcast & recording of the proceedings
  • 15" LCD screens for the mayor, each councilor and clerk
  • Table top mounted document camera
  • The Clerk controls the entire system: audio, video, data, lighting, cameras
  • All signals are converted to video and fed to the local Regina community television and media outlets

We hope you have enjoyed following the progress of the Henry Baker Hall project, from the conception and design, through demolition, renovation and installation.
