Mike Weir was in Saskatoon on June 23-24, 2008 and raised $1,181,625.00 for the Children's Health and Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. The Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids included a media event, a golf clinic, a round of golf and dinner at the Riverside Country Club. TCU Place hosted a gala dinner on Tuesday evening. Inland AV was proud to play a part in the events.

Monday kicked off with a media event and Inland AV supplied the sound reinforcement. Later that day, Mike Weir delivered a 45 minute golfing seminar to a sold out crowd. He was on a tee box with Inland AV providing the powered speakers and wireless head set microphone. Event organizer John Gormley noted "This is the BEST outdoor audio I have heard in a long time."

After the seminar, an auction was held for opportunities to golf with Mike Weir. Three lucky people would bid to be able to play three holes with Mike, 27 lucky winners in total. The 16, 17 and 18th holes were won with a winning auction bid of over $70,000.00!

The auction winners played their three holes with Mike Weir at the Riverside Country Club. It was a great day on the course.

The Tuesday evening gala dinner at TCU Place was a sold out success. Two video cameras captured the events and projected them onto five large screens making everyone feel closer to the action. A white scrim was also placed at the back of the stage and a projector illuminated the scrim with video images (see the picture on the right side of this page).

The gala dinner included a sports themed auction that included a Mike Weir golf bag which was autographed by Mike and his fellow PGA tour players. Other auction items included signed hockey jerseys from NHL stars such as Jagr, Orr, Kovalchuck and Crosby.

To ensure that all the funds raised were to go to the foundation, Mike did not charge for his time and even covered his own expenses. We commend Mike Weir and his Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive and look forward to the opening of the new Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan.
